FANTASIE is a EU 4th framework project that started in 1997 and is now close to finalisation (March 2000). The full title is Forecasting and Assessment of New Technologies And Transport Systems and Their Impacts on the Environment. The main objectives are:

Identification of new technologies and lines of technological development that are expected to have a major impact on transport systems in the EU and the attainment of CTP (=the Common Transport Policy) aims.

Development and validation of methods of assessment which enable the scale of the impact to be quantified.

Assessment of new technologies as regards impacts on the environment, safety, efficiency, socio-economic aspects, market and others - using the methodology developed and validated in this project Policy synthesis for CTP and policy requirements to get a sustainable mobility in Europe.
