  • Mohammad Bagherbandi participated in training School on Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA) Modeling organized in 13-17 June, 2011 Gävle, Sweden.
  • Yueming Zhao was granted 2nd place of Young Researcher Award for his presentation: "EKF SLAM with outlier detection" during the International Forum-competition of Young Researchers at St. Petersburg State Mining University April 20 - 22.
  • M. Bagherbandi successfully defended his PhD thesis on 28th of April in 2011.
  • Mohammad Bagherbandi will defend his thesis on Thursday 28th of April in 2011 at 13 o'clock. The title of the thesis is "An Isostatic Earth Crustal Model and Its Applications". Professor Zdenek Martinec from Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies has been appointed as the faculty opponent.
  • Professor emeritus Arne Bjerhammar peacefully passed away on February 6, 2011, at 19.15.
  • Mehdi Eshagh completed his Docent grade on 28th of October 2010.
  • Lars E. Sjöberg acted as a chair man for the 10th ABLOS conference 2010 in Monaco.
  • Ramazan Alpay Abbak joined the division of Geodesy as a visiting researcher for three months to work on the KTH approach to geoid determination since 1st of October 2010.
  • Mohammad Bagherbandi participated in the Nordic Geodetic Commission (NKG) General Assembly September 27-30, 2010, Hønefoss, Norway and for presenting a paper.
  • The 1st International School on The KTH Approach to Modelling the Geoid was held at Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, on 20-24 of September 2010. The school consisted of a mixture of lectures and laboratory work. There were 21 participants from 7 countries. A questionnaire answered by the participants showed that the students were generally very satisfied by the training and services provided.
  • Majid Abrehdary was admitted as a PhD student of Geodesy at KTH in September 2010. He is appointed to work on Satellite Altimetry and the recent European Space Agency satellite mission Cryosat-2 for studying the sea level changes in Fennoscandia.
  • The divisions of Geodesy and Geoinformatics will be merged in a new division of Geodesy and Geoinformatics on the first of July 2010. Professor Hans Mattsson is appointed to act as the head of the new division.
  • The new Journal of Geodetic Science was launched on 11th of June 2010. The journal owner is the division of Geodesy at Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and published by Versita.
  • Ronald Ssengendo from Uganda was admitted as a PhD student in the division on in 7th of June 2010 and he is appointed to work on Geoid determination of Uganda
  • The journal proposal of division of geodesy written, by Lars E. Sjöberg and Mehdi Eshagh, to establish a new geodetic journal was approved by Versita, a Polish company.
  • Uliana Danila got a permanent teaching position at Karlstad University and left KTH on 14th of March 2010.
  • Ilias Daras has been awarded the Tryggve Rubin Foundation Best Student Thesis in Geodesy for 2008-2009.
  • Mehdi Eshagh successfully defended his PhD thesis on 5th of June in 2009.
  • Division of Geodesy celebrated 25th jubilee of Lars E. Sjöberg professorship on Friday 29th of May in 2009.
  • Prosper Ulotu successfully defended his PhD thesis on 20th of May in 2009.
  • Dr. Huaan Fan and Mrs. Uliana Danila left the KTH to Kirgizistan to teach in a Kirgiz University.
  • Professor Lars E. Sjöberg, the head of Division of Geodesy of the KTH, was invited as a convener for the session of "local and global geoid models" of the European Geosciences Union general assembly 2009 in Vienna. The session was on Friday 29th of April. Dr. Ramin Kiamehr his former student in KTH, which is now an assistant professor of Zanjan University in Iran, was invited to be the co-convener of this session as well.
  • Mehdi Eshagh will defend his thesis on Friday 5th of June in 2009 at 10 o'clock. The title of the thesis is "On satellite gravity gradiometry". Professor Zdenek Martinec from GFZ-Potsdam Institute has been appointed as the faculty opponent.
  • Prosper Ulotu will defend his thesis on Wednesday 20th of May in 2009 at 10 o'clock. The title of the thesis is "Geoid Model of Tanzania from sparse and varying gravity data density by the KTH method". Professor Hossein Nahavandchi from University of Trondheim has been appointed as the faculty opponent.
  • Geodesy division moved to Teknikringen 72, 2nd Floor.
  • The published paper of Ramin Kiamehr was ranked the most viewed articles in Journal of Geodesy
  • Geodesy Divission activities (2002-2006), Report prepared for the Nordic Geodetic Commission
  • KTH Faculty has approved to extend the master programme Geodesy and Geoinformatics into a 2-years programme from academical year 2007/2008
  • Huaan Fan has visited Technical University of Moldova on May 1-5 for participating the Tempus project monitoring meeting
  • The joined published paper of Horemuz, M., Andersson, J. was ranked the second most viewed article in Journal of GPS Solution.
  • The joined published papers of Ramin Kiamehr and Prof. Lars Sjöberg were ranked the most viewed and hot articles in Journals of Geodesy and Geodynamics.
  • The division is contracted by the Swedish Road Administration to make research on Safety on Roads.
  • Huaan Fan has been awarded honorary professor by the Kyrgyz State University of Construction, Transportation and Architecture (KSUCTA). The award ceremony took place in Bishkek on March 13, 2006, and broadcast by the Kyrgyz national television. During the visit in Bishkek, he also participated in the opening ceremony of the GIS Centre at the Kyrgyz Agrarian University (KAU).
  • On April 16-30, the Division of Geodesy will organize an intensive training course on modern geodetic equipment for 8 staff members of the Kyrgyz State University of Construction, Transportation and Architecture (KSUCTA) and the Kyrgyz Agrarian University (KAU). The course will be given at KTH as a part of a EU-funded Tempus project on "Education in Geodesy and Geoinformatics".
  • On 8-9 March Ramin Kiamehr was in Lantmäteriet (Swedish Surveying Organization) in Gävle. He had a presentation titled: ''Potential of the least-squares modification of Stokes approach in determination of the high resolution geoid model in mountainous area, case study of Iran'' and had a discussion with Dr. Jonas Ågren about the Nordik geoid research project.
  • On February 23 Prof. Lars Sjöberg contributed to the planning meeting for future polar expeditions at the Polar Secretariat.
  • On February 3 Prof. Lars Sjöberg was a member of the examination board of Sten Bergstrand's disputation at Chalmer's University of Technology.
  • Dr. Huaan Fan attended a meeting on Erasmus Mundus programme at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, 20-22 January 2006.
  • Dr. Huaan Fan has participated the Tempus project Representatives meeting in Brussels, organized by The Euroepan Commission, 29-31 January 2006.
  • Dr. Huaan Fan visited Center for Geoinformatics, University of Salzburg within the framework of KTH's Tempus project "Education in Geodesy and Geoinformatics". 21-24 February 2006.
  • The Division of Geodesy, together with Division of Geoinformatics, has applied to the KTH authority to extend the present 1.5-years master programme "Geodesy and Geoinformatics" into a 2-years programme. If approved, the new programme will start in the Autumn of 2007.
